Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) - TALOS2020

Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) can offer a wide range of civil applications for the benefit of citizens and businesses. Being remotely piloted, such aircrafts can perform tasks that manned systems cannot perform, due to security or financial concerns.

RPAS are well suited for long duration monitoring tasks or risky flights into ash clouds. They can efficiently complement existing manned aircraft or satellites infrastructure used by governments in crisis management, border control or firefighting.

RPAS can also deliver profitable commercial aerial services in various areas, such as in precision agriculture and fisheries, power or gas line monitoring, infrastructure inspection, communications and broadcast services, wireless communication relay and satellite augmentation systems, natural resources monitoring, media and entertainment, digital mapping, land and wildlife management, air quality control and management.

TALOS 2020, the new ARATOS GLAM RPAS is a revolutionary solution for day/night monitoring against human threats for the above Homeland Security sectors providing high-quality monitoring data. TALOS 2020 is a small electrical unit equipped with thermal and optical cameras, GPS and software for following up to 200 pre-programmed waypoints. Our technology allows Beyond Visual Line of Sight monitoring (BVLOS) and flight at any time (day or night) the same distance off the ground!

Aratos RPAS

Aratos designs, integrates and offers a variety of sophisticated surveillance solutions based on Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems. Aratos RPASs are the chosen solution for many international enterprises and organizations, as they offer more capabilities, with better performance, lower cost and more respect to the environment.

Aratos RPASs are designed to process sensor data in real-time in order to send actionable intelligence data and to optimize the use of often limited and expensive data link bandwidth.

Aratos RPASs being compatible with a wide range of third-party systems can be quickly adapted to interface and operate with a variety of sub-systems.

The Aratos RPAS can be a solution to the following issues among others:

  • • Constant refugees flows from other neighboring countries (border patrol)
  • • Pollution issues by man-made waste (relevant activities monitoring)
  • • Uncontrolled Slash-and-burn agriculture issues (relevant activities monitoring)
  • • Oil pipelines and infrastructures monitoring (infrastructure/perimeter surveillance)
  • • Very large swamp areas that needs monitoring that is not possible by foot/vehicle in many cases
  • • Water resources and relevant facilities monitoring
  • • Deforestation issues that come from the destruction of vase areas of forest (human activities monitoring)
  • • Poaching due to extensive hunting (relevant activities monitoring)

Applications

Crisis and Emergency Response

Aratos RPASs are an optimal tool for crisis management. During chaotic events the RPAS can relay crucial information to decision makers and tactical forces, enabling quick allocation of assets. RPASs are both an intelligence gathering and a command and control tool that already been used during hurricanes, earthquakes, missing-person scenarios, tsunamis etc.

  • • search and detect survivors of disasters considerably minimizing the number of casualties in any catastrophe
  • • create a quick communication relay replacing malfunctioning communications
  • • monitor danger zones and reach remote areas passing back precise surveillance footage.

Aerial Surveillance

Aratos RPAS’s systems offer realtime video and high resolution aerial images on demand. Unmanned aircraft are the superior alternative to flying traditional aircraft for aerial surveillance and analysis. Point and click flight planning in real time with the included ground control software. You will receive software to track your RPAS in real time. Flight patterns can either be preprogrammed on the plane before take off, or programmed in the air. Flight logging data can be downloaded to your PC.

Aratos RPASs provide:

  • • aerial photography
  • • exploration
  • • disaster recovery
  • • a multitude of other uses

Aerial Surveillance

Agriculture

Aratos RPASs can identify growth trends within field boundaries or confirm that a particular problem has been rectified. The information obtained by the RPASs is integrated into other site-specific management practices such as fertilizer and pesticide applications. There is significant interest in deploying RPASs for immediate monitoring of crop growth, stress, pest detection, and ground modeling for irrigation and watershed analysis. Emerging applications include automated navigation for harvesters and other ground equipment.

Aratos RPASs are used in Precise Agriculture providing image data to:

  • • identify problem areas in fields
  • • estimate map yield potential
  • • quantify plant nutrition status
  • • count and monitor cattle
  • • insure that irrigation systems are working properly

Landcover

Using Aratos RPASs for aerial imagery is to measure range land vegetation cover as well as collect enough information about landscape patterns to determine which areas merit closer ground level surveys. Aerial photography reduces the number of ground surveys needed.

Aratos RPASs:

  • • allow site area coverage in a short amount of time
  • • supplement other ground based data collectors (eddy towers, tram lines etc.) and allow for the extrapolation of data to larger areas
  • • less expenditure of energy on the researchers part so that they can focus on data

Environment

Accurate spatial data are of crucial importance for sustainable management of our ecosystems. Satellite imagery and aerial photography provide advanced and efficient means to map the environment and quantify environmental changes, however, the resolution of these datasets is too limited for many application. Aratos RPASs offer an exciting and novel opportunity to map the environment in greater detail than ever before. Technological advances in recent years have made it possible to develop RPASs for civilian and scientific applications. Aratos RPASs offer an exciting new technique for ultra-high resolution remote sensing observations and they provide new capabilities, based on state-of-the-art sensors and image processing techniques.

These novel environmental remote sensing tools are used to:

  • • map and monitor natural ecosystems
  • • agricultural areas
  • • mine sites
  • • and other environments at an unprecedented level of detail
